The Melbourne Exchange

Terms

What you agree to when you share something here, and what we do with it. Short, because there is not much to it.

What you are telling us

That you made it, or that you have the right to share it. If you built on somebody else's work, say so when you send it and we will credit them too.

The licence

Everything here is CC BY 4.0. Anyone can download what you share, use it, change it and build on it, as long as they credit you. You do not give up ownership of anything: you are giving everyone else permission to use it.

Files we host are covered by this. Software we only link to is covered by whatever licence its author ships with it, which is theirs to set, not ours.

What Melbourne Instruments may do with it

Host it here, keep hosting it, and fix it if it stops working with a future firmware or plugin version.

Include it in Roto-Control products and software in future, credited to your username. If we ever put a setup in the box or in an app, the person who made it is named.

Your username and your email

You choose the name that goes on the page. It does not have to be your real one. Use whatever you go by on forums and wherever else you post, so people can tell it is you. Your link goes up too, if you give us one.

Your email never appears on the site. We use it to talk to you about what you have shared. If you leave the box ticked when you sign up, we also send you Melbourne Instruments news: firmware updates, new products, and tips for getting more out of the gear. Untick it then, or unsubscribe from any email later, and we stop. We do not pass your address to anyone.

Taking it down

Ask and we will remove it. Anyone who already downloaded it keeps what they downloaded, which is how CC BY 4.0 works and is not something we can undo.

What we do not promise

We do not test what people share. Every entry says who has checked it: the person who made it, somebody at Melbourne Instruments, or nobody at all. Most will be the first of those. A setup here can have a wrong CC number in it, so treat Not checked as exactly what it says.

Reporting something

If something here is yours and should not be, or is broken, or should not be on the site at all, email mktg@melbourneinstruments.com and we will look at it.
